During a meeting with a Chinese delegation, the Deputy for Economic Affairs assured the economic activists from China about investing in Tabriz and other cities in the province. Mohammad Kalamai mentioned that if foreign parties are interested in investing in Iran and East Azerbaijan Province, the government will provide the necessary guarantees.

He added that Chinese parties who have previously had the experience of operating and investing in East Azerbaijan Province have expressed satisfaction with the good cooperation of this province. He pointed to the suitable investment opportunities in Tabriz and East Azerbaijan for foreign parties, noting that this province is unique in the country, with over 96% of its economy in private hands.

The Deputy for Economic Affairs continued, saying that in recent years, most investments in the province have been made by the private sector, and the government’s role is less significant compared to other provinces. Kalamai mentioned that East Azerbaijan leads in some industries, including leather and footwear, and exports these products to China.

He noted that 60% of the country’s food industry products are produced in Tabriz, and in addition to meeting domestic needs, a portion of these products are exported to at least 70 countries worldwide. The Deputy for Economic Affairs also outlined the capacities of Tabriz and the province in the fields of steel production, household appliances, and the potentials of the Aras Free Zone during this meeting.
